A flock of geese trying to cross the interstate led to a multi-vehicle wreck this morning in south Charlotte.Four people were taken to the hospital, including two with serious injuries. The wreck happened around 9:46 a.m. on I-485 near South Boulevard. The incident briefly shut down the interstate.The N.C. Highway Patrol said the driver of a station wagon had slowed down to avoid hitting the Canada geese. His car was then rear-ended by a Nissan Altima, which was then hit by a motorcycle, said Sgt. Ben Miller. The driver of a fourth vehicle, a minivan, tried to avoid hitting the motorcycle and sideswiped the Altima, Miller said.The driver of the motorcycle and his companion were transported to Carolinas Medical Center. Miller said the driver had a severely broken wrist and his passenger suffered a broken femur and other broken bones in her pelvis.Miller said the drivers of the Altima and motorcycle will be charged with failure to reduce speed.
