Police say two men were seriously injured Monday night in a fight on a Belmont street.The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Crest Street, near West Pecan Drive, in the eastern Gaston County city.Police say they were called and told an assault was taking place. When officers arrived, they found about 10 people in the street. Belmont police Chief David James said several people were yelling that someone had been stabbed, and another person had been beaten with a baseball bat.James said officers were sent to a home on West Pecan Drive, where they found Aaron Jake Barnes, 31, who had been stabbed several times. Officers also were directed to Crest Street, where they found Tony Gunther, 33,l on the ground. Gunther told police he had been hit in the head with a bat.Both men were taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where they were in critical condition this morning.James said it appears as if the two injured men and another man, Richard Morrow, 43, were involved in the fight. Morrow was arrested for domestic assault to his girlfriend, James said.Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information in the case to call them at 704-825-3792.
