Sallie Saxon, the Charlotte woman accused of running a lucrative call-girl service, was arrested Monday on charges of shoplifting $50 in goods from a store in Cotswold Village.Last week, employees at Stein Mart reported to police that Saxon stole a shirt, a pair of shorts and a wallet from the store at 2065 Sharon Amity Road, according to police.Authorities served warrants Monday charging Saxon, who also goes by Sallie Wamsley, with misdemeanor larceny. Saxon, 58, is expected in court Tuesday.According to prosecutors, Saxon made $3 million selling sex to some of the area’s civic and business elite. She charged clients up to $700 for an hour for her prostitutes and had lists of more than 500 clients who used her Internet-based escort service. In a deal with prosecutors, Saxon pleaded guilty in January to conspiring to entice women to cross state lines to engage in prostitution, and conspiring to commit money laundering. She and her husband also forfeited more than $650,000 in cash and property.She is awaiting sentencing and could spend between two and four years in prison.Since her plea, she’s been cooperating with federal authorities investigating the case, spelling out for prosecutor’s how the prostitution business, who the regular customers were and how they may have helped the business flourish.
