Thief steals SUV, takes baby for ride

A woman left her SUV running when she went inside a gas station on Queen City Drive Thursday afternoon.

When she came out, the vehicle was gone. Also missing: her infant son, who was strapped in the back seat.

The baby was found a few blocks away, on the side of Tuckaseegee Road, unharmed. The SUV has not been recovered yet. Police are looking for the suspect, a bald, black man, about 6-feet-tall. The stolen SUV was a 1999 cream-colored GMC Yukon. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
